1. Is corporal punishment an acceptable form of discipline for a child or adolescent?

a. At what age should it start and stop? If acceptable, where on the body should it occur and can items besides the hand be used?

b. What are the benefits AND consequences of using corporal punishment? Describe any effective alternative disciplinary techniques that could be used (time outs, ignoring behaviors, restriction, etc).

c. What is spanking like to a 4 year old? Is it the same as an adult would feel to a bigger person hitting them? Is it stressful?

d. Do children remember reason for what they did wrong or just the spanking (is it too arousing/fear provoking?)

e. Is there a difference between corporal punishment and abuse? If so, describe the difference between them.

f. Is it possible to criminalize spanking?
