Family is an important social institution in our society however I have noticed that in the last few decades some of the functions family performed in the past are disappearing. For example, one function is to socialize children, however if you look around that function is disappearing. I have observed families out at restaurant for a family dinner and it amazes me they are sitting at the table and the children (and sometimes the adults) are not engaged in socializing. Instead I see the children "playing" on their phones or other devices. They appear to be checking Facebook, twitter, or some other social media instead of engaging in conservation with one another.
In 200 words or more explain why you think social media has taken over the socialization of our children? Why or Why not? AND do you think social media is doing a good job at socializing our children? Why or Why Not?
