explain how death and dying is perceived

Assignment Requirements:

You will take the perspective of someone in a particular age group or a person from a major religious group (Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.) and explain how death and dying is perceived and the rituals that are practiced when one dies.

You will use research as a basis for your paper.  The research should come from professional sources (journal articles, books, websites, etc.) and may also include an interview of a person or people from the age group or religious group you have chosen to write your paper on.  Your assignment should contain the following information to obtain full credit.

  1. A short abstract of your paper (Separate page following the title page).
  2. A review of your research about the age or religious group you chose and their perspectives of death and dying and their rituals (written third person).
  3. A summary from the perspective of someone in the group you are reporting on (written first person as if you are the person from the group you are reporting on).  In this part of the paper you would be taking a personal approach of maybe describing the death of a loved one from the group you are reporting on. (i.e. You chose teens.  You might write something like:  My little brother died of cancer a couple of days ago. Of course my parents are devastated and have been super busy with all the funeral arrangements.  They haven't even noticed how bad the rest of us kids feel.  Tonight there is a viewing of my brother which I don't want to go to.  I want to remember my brother like he was....)
  4. Your thoughts and feelings about: your research findings, writing from the perspective of someone in that group and if you interviewed someone what that was like.
  5. A reference section (Belongs on a separate sheet. The first line of each reference is flush with the left margin and second and third lines are indented.  See APA format.)
  6. Written in APA style
