What is significant about the murder of Kitty Genovese?

I need help with five multiple choice questions for my psychology class. There is only one correct answer for each question.  The list of question is below, thanks!

  • 1. What is significant about the murder of Kitty Genovese?
-Many bystanders tried to come to her rescue, and several of them were injured themselves -Genovese was murdered while trying to come to the aid of an attack victim -Thirty-eight people witnessed the attack but only one of them did anything to intervene (by calling the police) -An unknown but large number of people walked by during the attack but did nothing to help because they all thought it was some kind of street performance.
    2. Rosenhan's study showed that normal people often cannot be distinguished from the mentally ill in a psychiatric hospital setting. What was the primary reason for this finding?
-Once a person is admitted to a psychiatric hospital, there is a tendency for others to perceive that person's behavior as abnormal even when it isn't -Many mentally ill people become very good at hiding the symptoms of their illness -There are no clear diagnostic criteria in place for specifying whether someone has a mental illness or not -The symptoms of mental illness are usually very subtle and require extensive observation over long periods to become evident
    3. Why did David Rosenhan check himself into a psychiatric hospital?
-To receive treatment for his schizophrenia. -To assess the quality of care and attention given to psychiatric hospital patients -To study the experience of being a psychiatric hospital patient -To see if the hospital staff would realize that he was, in fact, psychologically healthy
    4. What is correct order of steps in Darley and Latane's model of helping behavior?
-Decide how to help, provide the help, notice the event, interpret the event as an emergency, assume personal responsibility for helping -Notice the event, interpret the event as an emergency, assume personal responsibility for helping, decide how to help, provide the help -Notice the event, assume personal responsibility for helping, interpret the event as an emergency, decide how to help, provide the help -Assume personal responsibility for helping, interpret the event as an emergency, notice the event, decide how to help, provide the help
    5. What did Darley and Latane's research show about the relationship between the number of bystanders in an emergency situation and the likelihood that any of them will help?
-The likelihood that a bystander will help is unrelated to the number of bystanders present -The greatest likelihood of a bystander helping occurs when there are between three and five bystanders present -As the number of bystanders increases, the likelihood that one or more of them will help increases -As the number of bystanders increases, the likelihood that one or more of them will help decreases
