(n.d.). Retrieved from https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/08/well/family/teenagers-do- dumb-things-but-there-are-ways-to-limit-recklessness.html? New research has shed more light on the issue of teenagers and the issue of self-control. Adolescents have similar risk-prone brains but vary in actual risk-taking. In one of the psychologist argument, the context in which kids grow up has the largest contributing factor to the teenager’s recklessness. The argument continues with saying that it doesn’t mean that if something is rooted in biology, nothing can be done to solve that particular problem. An example is given where a teenager in China are compared to those in America. The Chinese teenager is better oriented. Researches are arguing that those countries that have low risk-taking teenagers have encouraged self-control from a very tender age. It is built on a structure where kids are not free, and they don’t get a lot of unstructured time (Seligman, & Csikszentmihalyi, 2014) . Teenagers are acting recklessly when the rational centers of their brain come up against the kryptonite of social and emotional charged situations. Even level-headed teenagers can have a moment of madness when they find themselves in a situation which is compromising their knowledge. Psychologist continues with their argument by stating that teenager behaviors should be made
