A major paper worth 100 points will be due on April 1st.
You will be required to adhere to APA formatting including an appropriate title page. Correct grammar and punctuation are expected. Please refrain from using abbreviations or slang terms.
You will be expected to submit your paper online and it will be run through plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for your paper and possibly a zero for the course.
You will also submit a hard copy of your paper in class on the due date at the start of the class period. Failure to submit both a hard copy and online copy (submitted through Blackboard) will result in a ZERO for the assignment.
For this paper, you should choose a movie depicting a character in a specific period of development (i.e. adolescence, early childhood, late adulthood). You are free to choose whatever movie you like, but I am available to make suggestions should you need them.
After watching your chosen movie, you should write a 3-4 page paper applying the concepts from class to the movie. Thus, the purpose of this assignment is to apply concepts from the course to “real life” situations.
Your paper should address the following questions:
What developmental theories can be applied to this movie and the main character?
What other influences (such as peers or family members) in the film have on the main character
How does context (e.g., culture, SES, neighborhood) influence the main character?
You may provide a BRIEF (1/2 page) summary of your chosen movie. Points will be deducted if the summary exceeds this length.
Please refer to the rubric posted on Blackboard for details regarding the breakdown of potential points as well as specifics on what the instructor will be looking for while grading.
