aging occurs in asphalt cement during mixing with aggregates

Hello, i was working on some question from the text book for engineering material and encountered a question, "discuss the aging occurs in asphalt cement during mixing with aggregates and in service. How can the different types of aging of asphalt can be simulated in the laboratory?" All i read from the book is short term aging and long term aging occurs and RTFO simulates short term and PAV (pressure aging vessel) simulates long term. I would like to know more details about short term aging and long term aging, what is the cause and why its bad for asphalt cement, thank you
