differing conceptions of the good

Aristotle and Epicurus have differing conceptions of the good, but one might argue reasonably that both conceptions are flawed for the same reason:  neither philosopher provides a sufficient normative account of what he identifies as the good. Construct a paper that:

 

1) demonstrates Aristotle’s and Epicurus’s differing conceptions of the good;

2) demonstrates why one might think that the two conceptions share the described flaw; 

3) demonstrates why one might think that Aquinas provides the normative element that is missing in Aristotle’s and Epicurus’s conceptions; and,

4) evaluates critically whether Aquinas’s normative element is successful.
