Sheila, an elderly lady, is finding it difficult to look after her garden.

  • Sheila, an elderly lady, is finding it difficult to look after her garden. She asks her friend and neighbour, Deidre, if Deidre will help out by mowing her lawn and weeding once a week and Deidre says she will. After a few weeks, Deidre, somewhat embarrassed, asks Sheila when she will be paid. Sheila, even more embarrassed, replies that she had assumed Deidre was simply doing her a favour as a good neighbour. Deidre explains she is very short of money, cannot work for free for anyone, and needs to charge £10 per hour. Sheila agrees to pay for future work but is unwilling to pay for the work already done.
