 read the first assigned portions of your textbook, and also Paul Colomy's article titled The Three Sociological Perspectives (2005).    

Drawing on both of these, I want you to construct a substantial essay in which you compare and contrast the three sociological perspectives of functionalism, interactionism and conflict theory.  In doing so, I want you to not only discuss some key tenets of each of the three perspectives, but also how you think they might deferentially assess social problems.
