Phase 2 Producing an Original Expository Essay for Psychology 334: Finding Your Research Scholarship Due: This week, I will ask you to submit to me through two primary and two secondary references, specifically narrowing addressing your research question by Monday evening, 11:55 pm, October 31, 2016. The long view: This is the second phase of a process. Ultimately, I am asking you to write an original five (5) page expository essay applying developmental theories, projects, models, etc., by Monday evening, November 28, 2016, 11:55 pm. However, as a class, we are going through the drafting process step by step. So, read the following directions for Phase 2. Here are steps to get started and to finish Phase 2. Step 1: Review the comments, etc., that I have provided for your planning document, due Monday, 10/17. Resubmit a revised version if I have requested it. Of course, I am willing to talk with anyone as you revise. Step 2: Watch the following videos and resources in APA Style Central. Look for them under the LEARN tab. Tutorials (Often, the narrator addresses a topic as if you are writing a study which generates data (i.e., primary literature). We are not. However, the general advice remains cogent.) a. Research Questions and Hypotheses b. How to Title Your Work Step 3: Watch “Types of Research Papers” in APA Style Central’s quick guides to prepare you for what I will ask you to submit in the second phase. The APA video distinguishes primary from secondary literature in the psychological sciences—although they do not use these terms. Notice in Table 1 the way I match my primary and secondary labels with the APA “Types of Research Paper.” For us, let’s consider any document which collects and analyzes original numerical data as primary.
