Sexual Response Theory and Causes of Dysfunction

Sexual Response Theory and Causes of Dysfunction

Prepare: As you prepare for this written assignment, review the assigned chapters in the textbook, other weekly sources, applicable articles from the Ashford University Library, and the Family and Friend Network list from the Week One Course and Character Introduction Assignment. Choose one character that you have not used in any previous discussion or assignment. Remember, you will only be using this character once in this course so use the checklist to keep track of the characters you have chosen along the way.

Please review the attached Human Sexuality Character Checklist.

Reflect: For this assignment, the character or the character’s partner is experiencing problems getting aroused. Think about the physiological processes of sexuality and the role they play in our sexual health and overall well-being.

Write: Based on this scenario, please respond to the following prompts:

Discuss at least three possible inhibitors to arousal using one theory of the sexual response cycle as a framework.

Describe at least two ways in which each partner in this relationship can enhance arousal for the other.

Evaluate the benefits of orgasm on physical and psychological health.

Explain why neither of these characters should consider orgasm as a “goal” of lovemaking.
