Cases where there is a serious medical problem
Cases where the child will not be 'normal'
Cases where the pregnancy is entirely unintentional
Cases where the pregnancy is unintentional but where a risk was taken
Cases where the pregnancy has lifestyle consequences
Choose ONE of these cases, and write a short case (either from your experience, from the news, or a fictionalized case) based on that one instance. Then prepare a presentation based on that case, following the usual format:
For your problem this week, prepare a short presentation that includes the following:
Summarize the case or caselet.
What is the ethical issue(s) in this case?
What are some possible solutions to the case?
What reasons support those solutions?
What do you think should be done, and why?
What are some questions for class discussion?
Explain how an ethical theory that we have studied or read about might help you with this case. Use the Powerpoint.
