The character of Oedipus in Oedipus the King possesses many character traits suchas power, a strong tendency to ignore facts, and superstition that clearly reveals thedepth and true identity of his character. The primary goal of Oedipus is to restorepeace to the city of Thebes by eliminating its plague. He continually intrigues hisaudience with his limitless dedicated and obsessive drive to expose the man whomurdered Laios and avenge his death.
