What do you think it was like in medieval cities?

1)What do you think it was like in medieval cities? Are there any conditions that you might have enjoyed more than what we experience in our lives today? Can you see any redeeming qualities to living in medieval villages, towns and cities? 

2 What was the general medieval attitude towards women and where do you suppose such ideas come from? Does the notion of chivalry in regards to women attract or repel you?
