How has the theorist's work impacted the pursuit of modern psychology?

Chapter 3 of the textbook Hunt, M. (2007). The story of psychology (2nd ed.) focuses on rationalism and the work of Descartes and Spinoza in particular, as well as British empiricism (Hobbs, Locke, Berkley, and Hume).  Using the material in the textbook and at least two other sources (e.g., online library database, books, or other online sources), discuss one of of these theoretical approaches (rationalism or empiricism)  and choose one of the theorists to discuss in terms of their contributions and accomplishments.
