Case Study Essay (approx. 1200 words)
a. Introduction (approx 200 words)
o Opening sentence/s – general background to the issue/topic.
o Narrow the focus to clearly relate to the nominated theory.
o Include a definition Identify the problem (not symptoms) – The
problem must directly involve the main theory.
o Clarify people and context (what, when, where, why, but DO NOT
REWRITE THE QUESTION.) Use names if given.
o Thesis statement (outline the structure of the essay)
*Incorporate 1-2 references to relevant theory
b. Three body paragraphs (approx 250 words each) For each body paragraph:
• Analyse one aspect of the problem- why it is happening, what the
impact on the participants and the organisation is - this must be related
to the same theory discussed in the introduction.
• How could the aspect be addressed? Evaluate from the perspective of
others.
*Incorporate 2-3 references to relevant theory per body paragraph
c. Conclusion (150 words)–
• Summarise the three aspects contributing to the problem
• Discuss why it is important for the problem to be solved – short and
long-term implications
• Propose a practical solution and its implementation
• Make final statement in relation to the theoretical nature of the
problem.
*Incorporate 1-2 references to relevant theory
