LabVIEW units

- For all LabVIEW units, answer all questions in Word, each question on a separate page.

- Write unit #, exercise # first at the top of each exercise, followed by a clear description of the exercise
in full sentence form.

- Next, show the Control Panel, label it with a Fig #, and write a description for it, and clearly mention
the Fig # in your description.
- Next, show the Block Diagram, label it with a Fig #, and write a description for it, and clearly mention
the Fig # in your description.

Ex 1. Design a VI using the Formula Express VI to calculate the power in a circuit, given current and resistance.
Use the formula: P = I2R.

Use appropriate labels in the dialog box: eg. input X1 = I for current in amps, input X2 = R for resistance in
ohms. Output = P for power in watts.
Let the input controls be vertical pointer slides with digital displays, let the output indicator be a meter with a
digital display.
Let the current input be adjustable from 0 to 1 amp, let the resistance input be adjustable from 0 to 150
ohms. Use an appropriate scale for the power output.

Test it for the current of 0.5 amps, and resistance = 100 ohms.
Increase the size of the slides and meter to double the default size.
Increase the font size of the labels, colour the background of the labels yellow.

Ex 2. Design a VI using the Formula Express VI to calculate the volume of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
Use the formula: V = 1/3 * base length * base width * height.

Use the internet, eg. wikipedia to determine the base and height of the pyramid. Use meters.
Use three horizontal pointer slides with digital displays for three controls, one for the base length, the second
for the base width, and the third for height. Use a tank with a digital display for the volume.
Increase the size of the slides and the tank to double the default size.
Increase the font size of the labels, colour the background of the labels yellow.
