why convergence of the rods results in increased sensitivity

Hello, is it possible to help me answer this question please?

  1. why convergence of the rods results in increased sensitivity, but decreased acuity, and vice versa - why there is less convergence in the foveal cone results in decreased sensitivity but increased acuity? would I talk about dark adaptation and the rod-cone break? cone = 3 photo pigments and 3 wavelengths,and that the fovea is cone dominated,; meanwhile the rods are not colour sensitive?
