For our last response paper, we’d like you to do something a little different in terms of substance.  We’d like you to focus on two central ideas developed by the theorists: DuBois’ notion of double-consciousness, and Polanyi’s notion of the double movement. First, define double-consciousness and the double movement as each theorist develops the notion. Second, work though how each concept is rooted in or draws on two other key concepts or distinctions made by the theorist, showing how double-consciousness and double movement (respectively) draw out further implications of the underlying concepts or distinctions you’ve indentified. Third, lay out one way you see that double-consciousness and double-movement might intersect or talk to one another.
