Editing Test 3
Research Task and Letter Writing
Write a properly formatted, well designed, well-edited letter that responds to the following scenario. The scenario states that the information in the letter needs to be real - based on research. Letters that are not based on research will not be graded. Please include a reference list at the end of the letter.
Post this to your Coursework Portfolio. Call it CP Task 6.1.AND submit a hard copy at the beginning of class in Week 7. It is up to you to determine an appropriate length for the letter. It needs to be concise but should include all the necessary information.
Â
Scenario:
You are an event manager at KVR Productions. Your company arranges conventions, meetings, exhibitions, parties, etc. for its clients. One of your clients is Humber College. Humber has contacted you to get information and/or recommendations on where to hold its annual Awards Ceremony. The event includes pre-ceremony appetizers, an awards ceremony for top students and faculty, and a casual, alcohol-free reception after the ceremony. About 1000 people attend the event. Humber usually hosts the event, but they are looking to have the event off campus this year.
Write a letter to the coordinator of Humber's Award Ceremony, Amanda Sanchez, providing details on at least TWO location options. Make up the necessary details, though the information you provide must be real - based on research.
Team Project Preparation:
Your team project will require you to plan, organize, develop, and promote an important event (you will not actually hold the event). The event must be in support of some cause - whether to raise money or raise awareness.
Your first task as a team will be to decide on a cause - a reason to hold the event. In the past, students in this course have organized events to:
The possibilities are endless. However, you need to keep a few things in mind:
So put your thinking caps on. What's important to you? What do you think you needs to be done?
In your Coursework Portfolio Journal, in about 150 words, write about one or two ideas you have. Explain what the cause is and why you believe it is important. Explain what kind of event you think would work to support the cause. (Call this CP Task 6.3).
