Definition of variables
In this research a spotlight is shined on a very important question; which is weather the amount of spiteful media subjection has any bearing on the violent behavior of teens and their participation in bullying. To unveil the answer for this question, three studies were conducted which successfully confirmed an interconnection between continuous vulnerability to derogatory media and cases of physical bullying thus laying the foundation for the independent variable. The dependent variable on the other hand is composed of a combination of research techniques used to collect data to include a questionnaire conducted on students to measure the behavior on cyber bullying, a Content-Based Media Exposure Scale used to determine how often teens watch inappropriate behavior in the media such as larceny, destruction of property and fighting. When determining the difference between genders in cyber bullying, researchers found a set of mixed results. Researchers proposed that females are more vulnerable to cyber bullying than males because cyber bullying involves relationships. (Hamer & Konijn, 2015). After conducting a study, the results contradicted the hypothesis. In another research study performed, it was finally concluded that males are more likely to succumb to cyber bullying because they have a higher consumption rate of violence than females, which sets the foundation for the control variables.
