Hi , please I need comment and question for the event bellow.
A stressful event that impacted my life was when my now three-year-old daughter got sick and was diagnosed with Neutropenia of Infancy. She became really sick after her year checkup and round of vaccines. A few days later she went to the hospital white as a ghost and lethargic. We were told her white blood cell count was almost depleted and they have to start running test to figure out the problem. She and my wife stayed in the hospital for weeks while they ran test after test and poked and prodded my little girl. This was very stressful because of my daughter being life threating ill and being separated her and my wife. We got even more heart breaking news when the doctors said they believe she has bone cancer. I will be honest with you I cried like a baby. They conduct a bone biopsy and the results came back negative for cancer. After several weeks they released my daughter from the hospital and referred us to a neurologist/blood doctor.Â
This happened when she just turned a year old and now she is three years old. They said she has something in her blood that is attacking and killing off her new blood cell. This makes her very acceptable to becoming sick. She has to be given daily injections to keep her blood cells alive, cell counts up and aids her from becoming sick. She has to see the neurologist once a month now for checkups and blood draws.  Neutropenia of Infancy is the effect; it is not the cause. What actually is causing her to have this condition is still unknown. All we can do is be hopeful that they might find the underlining cause. She is a healthy and happy little girl that has to have injections.
This whole situation was really stressful for me. I couldn’t stay with them because they were an hour away, I had to take care of my other children and I had a full time job. I couldn’t sleep, eat, focus at work, and I started smoking. This was really hazardous to me because I could get hurt at work by not focusing and lack of sleep, and I could get a serious health condition by smoking. It took a long time to understand how to manage this stress. I started by devoting any free time I had reading and study her condition trying to figure out what it is. I found out we were not alone on this and there actually are several social groups that have children with the same issue. Me and my wife joined the social group and talked to them daily, which gave us and them support. We made time for fun family outings and activities with the kids. These stress management techniques are what really helped me and my wife pull through. Â
