accusations of entrapment against the police

Hello,

Two separate questions,

  1. Police pursuits can be very dangerous and controversial. Most departments have strict policies in place governing when and under which circumstances officers can pursue. Some departments allow pursuits for traffic offenses, while others only pursue violent offenders. When do you think police officers should be allowed to pursue a vehicle?
  2. Undercover operations often lead to accusations of entrapment against the police.  Shows, such as Dateline’s "To Catch a Predator," combine law enforcement operations with media coverage. Discuss the ethical ramifications of such a relationship. Is it appropriate? Is it fair to the suspect under our system of due process?
