In this assignment, you will identi±y ethical violations committed by a test-user in a hypothetical case. Then you will describe more ethical behavior with regard to use o± tests in the case. Directions Read the ±ollowing case: Brie± Case Background Dr. Colby administered a battery o± psychological tests to Martin, a 9- year-old boy. Martin was re±erred ±or psychological testing by his elementary school because the boy was showing signi²cant academic and behavioral problems. A±ter examining Martin, Dr. Colby stated in his written report, “Martin’s test results indicated high levels o± psychasthenia, suggesting that he is ²xated at the phallic stage. It is very possible that he will experience a psychotic breakdown in the near ±uture.” Dr. Colby also wrote, “Martin’s Full-Scale IQ score on the WAIS-III was below the 2 nd percentile, indicating mental de²ciency.” A±ter Dr. Colby gave Martin’s parents a verbal summary o± his ²ndings, they were very upset. They asked Dr. Colby ±or copies o± Martin’s test scores and the written report. Dr. Colby re±used, stating that giving unauthorized individuals these materials would compromise the validity o± the tests. Upon leaving the psychologist’s o³ce, Martin said to his distraught parents, “That was a test to see i± I can go to soccer camp this summer, right? The doctor never said so, but I know that’s why!
