How many hours do you plan to study per week

Full Instructions: For this assignment, you'll be turning in the discussion and references sections of your term paper. The discussion section is where you tie things together to provide a clear take home message from your study. Remember to begin with a short summary of your results (no numbers!) and then transition into a discussion of implications, limitations, and future directions. Also include the references section for all references cited in-text throughout your paper.

Grading: A key piece of the discussion section is to provide a summary of results and clear take home message. Readers have invested time and energy reading your paper--why should they care about this? Also keep in mind that this assignment must be turned in on time. All late papers will receive a 20% late penalty deduction for each day that the assignment is late. Also take a look at the assignment rubric: Discussion_Rubric.pdf (attached)

Consider the following points while writing your discussion section:

  • Discuss your expected results in relation to your hypothesis.
  • Discuss possible explanations for your results. How do your results agree or disagree with the ideas that you summarized in the Introduction? How do your results relate to previous literature or current theory? There should be connections between these two sections of your paper.
  • Identify and discuss any limitations in the experimental design that may reduce the strength of your results.
  • Introduce new ideas that your results suggest.
  • Generalize your results, if possible, to a broader population.
  • Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of applying your results to other groups, ages, or sexes.
  • Identify another experiment to be done in this research area that can help to advance knowledge in the field.
