Class have examined how culture influences our health, both physically and mentally. Culture's influence is at different levels, society, family, to the individual. The interaction of these levels may change our health outcomes. Are we in a society that accepts diversity, which our readings show participation in ethnic communities and a strong ethnic identity are protective factors against worst physical and mental outcomes; or are we in a society that is not accepting of diversity, so individuals face discrimination and racism, increasing the daily stress for individuals in the minority, leading to worst physical and mental outcomes.
After watching both of these videos, what do you think is more important to better health, physical and mental, outcomes? The individual's perception of their culture and experiences or the community, culture, and society's perception that influences how others treat individuals. You may consider the issues of race, stress, SES, ethnic identity, cultural practices, indigenous communities, and protective factors. Also relate back to our readings and incorporate at least two theories that were discussed in chapters that helped you to form your opinion

The theories are
: Life expectancy, infant mortality, subjective well-being, relative perspective, universalist perspective, universal syndrome, culture-bound syndrome, psychotherapy,Â
