What is your class status?

Directions: For your term project, you will conduct a research project from start to finish. We completed a research survey that will serve as the data for this project. The first component of your project is to come up with a research hypothesis--this will guide your entire project. There are a few things to consider as you come up with your research topic:

  1. We will not collect data from anyone outside of this class, so your topic should be applicable to students.
  2. Your source of data is the class survey, so if there isn't a question over it you can't use it in your project!  DO NOT PICK A TOPIC RELATED TO GENDER. The survey is attached to this question.
  3. Please stick to claims of association to make data analysis easier. For example, students that eat a lot of candy will weigh more. This is a simple idea, yet there is enough research on calorie consumption and the like to write a paper over it. Plus, you don't need complicated statistical analyses to find your answers.

Submit: Turn in a word document that contains the text of your two questions, your hypothesis, and at least one peer reviewed article in support of this question.

Example: Question A: What is your gender? Question F: How much anxiety to you believe you have? Hypothesis: Women are more likely to report higher levels of anxiety than men.  Source: Article not only determines that women are more likely to experience anxiety than men, but offers suggestions as to why.  They cite factors such as differences in hormones.  Reference: Piggot, T. A. (1999). Gender differences in the epidemiology and treatment of anxiety disorders. Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, 6, 4-15.
