need a comment and question about the post below

Hi , please i need a comment and question about the post below.

Good morning class,

Social Media provides a venue for anyone with a social media device to reach out to everyone else that has access to that same platform. Social media has grown so rapidly ove the last 10 years that it makes my head spin. I personally am not a big tech person or into social networking, but it seems that the younger generation cannot go one day without checking Facebook, Twitter, etc. These ways of interacting provide instant communication to anyone who is willing or interested in what the person or group is trying to push, be it a good cause or hate and anger. Before all of this technology came into play, most people received their news and info from newspapers, TV news and word of mouth which could be somewhat controlled and obviously could be very biased. Now days you can hear and see information from many different sources, which does not eliminate the bias or control, but you can respond to it with your own opinion. Many forms of this have taken place over the years such as the occupy wall street movement, Cancel Colbert and arab spring.

Social media has made it much easier for people to jump on board with a movement whether the really do feel strongly towards that movement and want to back it, or they took two seconds to think about it and clicked "like". I think our text put it the best when they described it as "slacktivism", the willingness to perform a relatively costless, token display of support for a social cause, with an accompanying lack of willingness to devote significant effort to meaningful change.
