need a comment and question for the post below.

Hi , please i need a comment and question for the post below.

I grew up in England and attend Catholic school all the way until High School at which time I switched to a "Public School". Since that time I have probably only been inside a catholic church 10 times. I have seen the shift of more adults becoming non affiliated, I think the economy approach has a lot to do with people switching to a nonaffliated status, it gives people the flexibility they need in there lives. I also think society has changed so much and has took the emphasis off of religion, they removed it from schools so now kids growing up never step foot into a church or know anything. The Religious Economy perspective says that organizations are in competition with one another, and people may not like the term but it I think it is true. The more members the more tithes, the quicker a church or organization can grow, I have seen a pastor leave one and go to anther and take half the congregation only because they were there to hear him, and not there for the church itself. The current tax rules are conducive to big business and help non-affiliated churches, having a tax exempt status is huge when it comes being able to stay afloat or build a business. A conversation I had with my mother-in-law about church brought up a weird senerio where a member of the church was upset with how the current church was being run and deceied to start her own church and then tried to pull members from the church she used to go to. She stayed within the same religion but this is an example of "Religious Economy". The reasons someone becomes non-affiliated are wide spread but as you drive around count how many advertisements you see for churches.
