Hi , please i need a comment and question for the post below .

I chose to research to the high school drop-out rate for San Diego County as a whole. Ahmed is correct that the drop-out rate has risen .05% from 2013 to the 2014 graduation year. Statewide in california overall the graduation rate is 80.8%, up .04 percent from the previous year. I decided to look at different areas of San Diego county to see if there is a distinct difference beteween certain school districts, and there definitely is. Coronado California is a very affluent community with a very high graduation rate of 98.3%, while a more lower class community such as Borrego Springs had a graduation rate of 60.5%.
High school drop-outs on the average will earn a lower wage than graduates and many will end up on public assistance. Studies also show that non-graduate females have a higher percentage of being single mothers. I do not believe that this will be the outcome for all non-graduates, it is simply based on statistics. Drop-outs effect the community in a few different ways. For example, it is likely that a high school graduate will have a greater chance of going to coolege and graduating with a degree that will lead to a greater opportunity to be a productive citizen, earn a higher wage and possibly open a business that will in turn provide jobs for that community. Another example of how drop-outs have an effect is that unfortunately all communities need a group of workers that are going to work the lower paying jobs and the majority of this work force will come from the drop-out pool of workers.
Society and the culture/community high school students live in will greatly impact their chance of graduating high school. I am sure that most of the high school students living on Coronado and going to Coronado high school come from very well to do families that probably have at least one of the parents with a graduate degree of some kind. This standard of expectation is then passed on to the child / student that they will need to graduate high school, get acceptance in to a good college and exceed their parents expectations.
Flip that same scenario around and you have a lower income family where both parents work service industry type jobs, no college degrees and possibly did not graduate high school themselves. What is the expectation for that student / child? Can they graduate and move on to bigger and better things? I Believe they can, but is it much easier for the affluent student to obtain these goals? I think it is the majority of the time it is and more doors will be opened up for them due to the parents social equity and status.
