Family Observation Assignment

Family Observation Assignment

This assignment is based on qualitative methods requiring you to observe a family in a public setting for at least 1 hour and take field notes. It is important to conduct a family observation in a public setting; however, if you desire to have a private observation an IRB will need to be filed.

  • Write about themes you find within the observation.
  • Avoid writing a chronology of your time in the observation, instead apply theory and content learned in this class to your observation of the family unit. Be sure to interact with the reading material by referencing and citing the readings from the class.
  • Be careful not to judge your research subjects.
  • Include a reference page.

You are to write a 3-4 page essay (double-spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, and 1 inch margins, include a cover page and reference page). Attach all of your field notes to the summary.

Below is the Rubric Guidelines for the report and I am also attaching an example for you to follow as well. If you have any questions just let me know!
