Choose one of the movies you have watched this semester and look up the writer's credit. Is it an original screenplay? An adaptation?
If you can find a copy of the screenplay (many screenplays are available online) for your movie, quote a favorite part of a scene. Or you can do it from memory.
Here's one of my favorites. I really do not care for Ben Affleck's acting. But I am a fan of his writing and hope that he devotes more of his time and energy to writing screenplays. The scene from Good Will Hunting (1997) where Chuckie tells Will about "the best part" of his day is one of my favorites.
Every day I come by to pick you up, and we
go out drinkin' or whatever and we
have a few laughs. But you know what
the best part of my day is? The ten
seconds before I knock on the door
'cause I let myself think I might get
there, and you'd be gone. I'd knock
on the door and you wouldn't be there.
You just left.
