The Psychodynamic Theory

The Psychodynamic Theory

For this essay, first provide a detailed description of the structures of personality

Id
Ego
Superego

Focusing on how these three structures interact in our minds as well as the roles that each one plays.

Please also give a brief description of the five defense mechanisms

Repression
Projection
Displacement
Reaction Formation
Regression

In addition, provide a specific example each of repression, projection, displacement, reaction formation, and regression. These examples should be your original creations—apply what you know about each defense mechanism and come up with your own example of how to showcase the individual defense mechanism.

You should include the information presented in Chapter 10 on personality development to show understanding of the weekly readings. You will also have to use sources outside of our textbook to find information on the various defense mechanisms (please be sure to cite your sources).

Our lecture this week discusses these defense mechanisms and more in detail for you, as well.

The essay should be a minimum of 500 words and should be submitted in APA format (title page, reference page, in-text citations, running header, double spacing, and page numbers).

Please be sure to paraphrase (put into your own words) the information that you use from our textbook and/or other outside sources unless directly quoting with quotation marks. Direct quotations (word-for-word excerpts with quotation marks) should only comprise at most 10 – 15% of your writing. If the information is not put into your own words or quotation marks are not used, then the writing is considered plagiarized, which is a serious infraction with any university. I will not accept assignments that have not followed the directions listed in this paragraph!!!
