Janet Musa Prof. English 1302 10/16/17 Bullying. Bullying is a major issue people face in the society today. This occurs in various areas of life such as the workplaces and school. In every bullying scenario, one is either a victim or a perpetrator. Whether a person observes a bullying situation or is involved in one, intervention must be found or the situation will escalate. These interventions can be simple such as removing the perpetrator or the victim from a situation, but efforts must be made to stop intolerance and misbehavior in the world. In any situation, bullying must be identified and the problem resolved by educating, dialogue and observing patterns of behavior. Work place bullying can be very tricky. It is strenuous to figure out an ongoing bullying situation at work, it is also difficult to separate strong management and bullying. Constructive and objective feedback should not be seen as an act of bullying but rather be considered an assistance to an employee. However, the expression of a bully at work can be subtle or obvious depending on the circumstance. Identifying a bully or a victim is difficult but can be made easy through observing patterns of behavior. Examples of workplace bullying are rumors, gossips, threats, abuse but not limited to this. These negative effects on the victims can affect their self- esteem which can lead to absenteeism, low morale at work, low self-esteem, shock and stress. Solutions to work place bullying can come with recognizing the situation and responding accordingly through dialogue. In the work place dialogue can be made easy through the human resources department, leading to thorough investigation of both parties involved.
