Pretend that you are a biological psychologist teaching someone else, perhaps your grandmother, this class. Write an essay describing four of the approaches, or techniques, used by biological psychologists to research the role of biology in personality. (Be sure to refer to Chapters 6 and 7 in this lesson). If you would like to do so, you are welcome to use the Web sites given in this lesson as references, but this is not necessary. Include some of the major research findings that have been reported for each approach.
Conclude your essay with a paragraph or two giving your personal assessment of the relevance of this approach to understanding personality development and functioning. Base your response on what you have learned in these two chapters. You might refer to the characteristics of good theories (Lesson 1) for a framework for your evaluation.
Your essay should be at least 500 words and the content of the essay: thesis, discussion (body), and conclusion (summary).
