Students spend a great deal of time and energy in pursuit of goals that will satisfy the need for achievement. Complete the Week 5 handout (Click on the assignment link above), tabulate your results, and then in a 500-700 word paper, answer the following questions:
Is this scale adequately sampled of your achievement motivation? Could it be improved? How?
Do these behaviors indicate the existence of a need and the intensity of the drive to satisfy it? What need? Why?
How do you define motivation? Compare your intrinsic motivation level that you have today, while attending school, and that when you were in high school. What are the differences? Similarities?
Identify how extrinsic rewards could diminish your intrinsic motivation. How will you ensure that this does not occur? What if it does? How will you overcome the lack of motivation?
In what ways does stress or your emotions interfere or drive you to be successful?
Examine how gender or culture plays a role in motivation and the drive to satisfy needs.
Provide at least two (2) outside references on motivation, besides your text, to support your thoughts. Wikipedia and about.com are not appropriate academic websites and should not be used. Remember to use APA format (Times New Roman, font size 12, 1” margins with title and reference pages).
