Item 1: I reviewed both eBay and ALL MY LiFe websites to compare and contrast how members described the items they were selling. ²he item I chose From eBay was a 55 inch LG ²elevision, and the item I choose From All My LiFe was a Saori Hoshi's ²elevision/VCR tag # 000003. Sellers From both sites used subjecTve and objecTve descripTons. However, I believe eBay sellers used a higher percentage oF objecTve descripTon then All My LiFe. ³or example, eBay seller gave these objecTve statements: LG-Electronics-OLED55B7A-55-Inch-4K-Ultra-HD-Smart-OLED-²V-2017-Model, BRAND NEW ³AC²ORY SEALED, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging. ²hese are Facts about the item that no one would dispute. However, on ALL My LiFe, sellers used subjecTve statements by giving inFormaTon on their experience with the ²V. ³or example, the seller stated “she will be Famous one day, I'm sure and this the ²V/VCR that she used to do low-± video ediTng on. ²his has been my main television For the last 10 years and everything sTll works. It’s kind oF heavy, like ²V's usually are.” In the ±rst statement the seller is using their opinion oF the owner becoming Famous as a means oF selling the ²V. ²he seller is hoping a buyer would purchase this ²V more as a souvenir. In the second statement the seller only describes the ²V as being heavy, than excuse the descripTon. ²his statement has absolutely no value to the buyer. ³inally, the last statement indicates the buyer having the ²V For 10 years. Most buyer would be very skepTcal buying a ²V that is 10 years old regardless oF the Fact that everything works. All three statement were rhetorical and subjecTve it was obvious that the seller was trying to persuade with entertaining and humorous statements rather than give perTnent inFormaTon about the quality oF the ²V. Nevertheless, both sites drew a diferent audience. On the Ebay site their audiences appeared to be more serious, mature, and knowing what they want buyers. I would shop Ebay because I Feel more con±dent about ge´ng what I’m paying For. ²hey were lots more descripTve. On the ALL My LiFe site the audience may have being more young and nieve, these buyer make purchases out oF their emoTons as appose to making an intelligent decision based on Facts given.
