When we interact socially using our diversity consciousness skills it connects us with people of different talents, statuses, cultural backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences. you will be challenged to see how you use your diversity skills in your everyday social interactions both online and face-to-face.

Background

Sheena just landed a new job as a medical assistant in a new area of town. After a few days on the job, she receives various friend requests on Facebook from her new co-workers. Sheena is worried that if she becomes friends with her colleagues on Facebook, she will be mixing her professional and personal life. She decides to friend her colleagues and turns the experience into a positive one in which she can extend her social network and learn about different types of people.

1. List one of your social networks in which you are active (i.e. Facebook, Twitter or a Face to Face social group).
2.  Describe how you use this social medium to become more aware of other people's culture and backgrounds.
3. Comprise a list of 2 to 3 strategies that could help you use social media to enhance your recognition of cultural diversity and explain how those strategies can be effective to you as an employee.
