One page typed summary Required Text: Who Moved my Cheese. Students must address each ques±on to receive full credit. Address each ques±on below. 1. Did you enjoy the book and why? Would you recommend this book? Why? 2. How does this book apply to you? Compare and give examples 3. What 4 words would you use to summarize the morale of the story? What character represents you and how would you change the end of the story The book “ Who move my cheese” written by Spencer Johnson, is a fiction story in which portray the experiences, changes and uncertainties in four imaginary characters. There are four main characters in the story; two mice Sniff and Scurry, and two people Hem and Haw. The four characters live in a maze which represents the environment, and their daily activity is to look for cheese which represents their life’s happiness and success. Each morning, Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw wear their most comfortable shoes to run and search the maze to find cheese. They search each day until they found “Cheese Station C.” They were so happy to have found “Station C” which is filled with plenty cheese. Hem and Haw, became very comfortable like most humans do. They thought that the cheese in “Station C” was more than enough to sustain their needs in a lifetime, so every morning they would get up, as slow as they could be, and walked to “Station C” without their running shoes. On the other hand, the two mice Sniff and Scurry would eagerly run every morning to “Station C”. Then one morning, as Hem and Haw walked to “Station C” without their running shoes, found it empty. They became angry and started complaining and blaming. They were not prepared because they had counted on the cheese to always be there. But when Sniff and Scurry found that “Station C” was empty, they were not surprised because they had been paying attention and noticed that the cheese supply was decreasing and they had mentally prepared themselves for the task of searching for new cheese. The next morning, Hem and Haw still walked back to “Station C” hoping to find their cheese as usual, but there was no cheese. Haw proposed Hem to search for new cheese in new places, but Hem who was in denial and very closed minded, rejected. Meanwhile, Sniff and Scurry have moved on and have found new cheese at “Cheese Station N.” After a while Haw decides to admit the fact that there is no more cheese, faces his fears and moves on. He enters the maze to look for new cheese, “new opportunities,” and found new cheese at “Cheese Station N.

Reading the book “ Who move my cheese” teach us the changes that people experience in different state of their life and how people have the ability to adapt to changes in order to pursue success. In this parable success was represented in finding a new cheese. People behavior manifest in different ways, some people are just reluctant to adapt new habits to face new challenges such as Hem who expected to keep his source of cheese forever when the cheese despaired, Hem did not accept his reality even he was frustrated and depressed, he was not motivated overcome this situation and find another cheese. In contrast, Haw After having found the courage to move on despite your fears, he discovered a new cheese station . This story delivers a strong message, our journey do not end when we find a cheese, because there is always more cheese to be found it. I definitely recommend this book we can learn many lessons that can help us grow mentally and spiritually. Professional and personal growth is not found in comfort, we must experience changes and discomfort to build a better version of ourselves. In some way, I am connected with Hem and Haw characters, sometimes I had acted like Hem, I have stayed in my conform due to my fears to change. Such as when I worked in my job doing something that I did not have any inspiration to do it however my fears to change kept me tie to my job. I took some time to be aware that was urgent to take action for changing and I thought to get a college degree in finance it will be a tool to reach better job opportunities. Just like Haw, he became aware that his own fear held him chained and decided to adventure into the maze to find a new cheese. Likewise, I have felt secure in my job, having an income and flexible schedule captive me to stay in my conform zone in spite of I wanted to start a college degree. Going back to college was not an easy decision, I knew this process would take time to adapt myself to a new environment, being in college demand a lot time and efforts to achieve academic goals. Also I knew that completing a degree program I would open a wide of opportunities in my life. After being in college for almost one year I have learned a lot from professors and classmates, I feel more secure and confident about my potential as professional and I am so eager to continue with my academic preparation Personally, I highlighted four words that describe this story well. Fear held Hem and Haw to move on to find new cheese, but Haw keep a positive attitude to face changes, imaginarily he saw himself finding new cheese and was encouraged to explorer the maze. Haw experienced Growth after he failed several times to find cheese but his spirit grew and became stronger until he succeeded. The path to success demands sacrifice and perseverance, We can fail many times and did not reach it, whom achieve their dreams or goals are who did not lost their faith on themselves. In this story we see how Hem lost his passion for exploring unknown land and he captive himself into his past, I had would liked to see how Hem would follow the Haw steps. Haw could be a role model for his friend. When we go through difficult situations ,having a support from our friends, family encourage us to continue to fight and not give up.
