How does new membrane get from its source to its final destination in the plasma membrane

1. As cells grow, new membrane must be added to the plasma membrane or the cell may lyse (burst). How does new membrane get from its source to its final destination in the plasma membrane?

Though their size ranges overlap to some extent, eukaryotic cells are generally about 10x larger than prokaryotic cells. Which material accounts for much of the increased volume of eukaryotic cytoplasm, and what functional differences are accounted for by this structural difference?
