Public health officials are constantly concerned about the emergence of new diseases and their potential to cause epidemics. One such example is avian influenza A (H7N9) virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) first announced outbreaks of the H7N9 virus in April 2013 after it identified the disease in several individuals in China (WHO, 2013).
Citing at least two references not found in the course materials, identify one specific disease that you think could cause an epidemic and discuss your reasons. Discuss what (if any) planning or prevention measures public health officials have implemented to protect public health from the disease you have identified.
Make your initial posts no later than Thursday by 11:55 p.m. EST. You must respond to the posts of at least two classmates no later than 11:55 p.m. EST on Saturday. Responses of "Nice job" or "I agree" followed by a regurgitation of the original post are not acceptable and will not count toward the minimum responses.
