conditions experienced by different people

The Endocrine System

Katie Johnson, a 15 year old female, is brought to the Emergency Room by her mother because of abdominal cramping and vomiting. Upon triage, you observe that Katie is very weak and a little confused with what is going on. She asks you if she can have a cup of water because she is really thirsty. Her mother tells you that she was fine this time yesterday, but feels that her daughter has taken a turn for the worse. A urinalysis is completed, and comes back showing a high level of ketones.

Question:what condition is Katie Johnson experiencing?

The Endocrine System

You're almost done with your shift for the day when one of the nurses you work with sits down next to you to start charting. She complains of nervousness and feeling like her heart is racing all the time, but is blaming it on a stressful shift. She also said that she has been excessively sweating, and has wanted to sleep with fewer blankets than her husband. You notice that her neck appears to have some swelling to it, but maybe you hadn't noticed before because she has lost quite a bit of weight lately. Regardless, you encourage her to consult a physician for further assessment.

Question:what condition is this nurse experiencing?

          Reflection

Reflect on what you have learned this week to help you respond to the question below. You may choose to respond in writing or by recording a video!

As a medical professional, you will be an integral part in how a patient receives  care. How does the anatomy of the endocrine and integumentary systems correlate with  the sense organs? What role does radiology and utilizing nuclear medicine play in this  line of care?
