explaining the concepts to a novice.

  1. In your own words, explain the differences and similarities between the three types of firewalls (packet-filtering,stateful, and application proxy). Include where you could use each type. Write it as if you were explaining the concepts to a novice.
  2. Explain where firewalls should be placed in a typical network. Include a explanation of a DMZ and how it can protect the sensitive inside of a network. In what situations would you use multiple layers of firewalls. (Hint: see chapter 3 of the NIST publication.) You should include one or more diagrams showing typical placement of firewalls.

Your assignment should be in a Word compatible document, and have proper attention to formatting, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. All references and citations must be in APA format.  This is worth 80 points and is due by the end of week 10.
