Dealing with Violence in the Community

Dealing with Violence in the Community

Particularly in the larger urban areas of the country violence is at an unacceptable level. In the very largest of our cities, where the violence is the highest there are community-oriented policing programs. Obviously these cities are seeing high incidents of murder and assault but that does not mean that the community-oriented policing efforts in those cities aren't having some positive impact. Go to this website and browse through states and cities: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2015/crime-in-the-u.s.-2015/tables/table-8/table_8_offenses_known_to_law_enforcement_by_state_by_city_2015.xls/view Find a city that has a high rate of violence (you may be able to guess where to look) and then research that city to see what their community-oriented policing effort is like. Analyze the how the implementation of that program has worked, critically review their strategies and suggest actions they could take that might improve the efficiency of the program.
