Cybersecurity involves preventing, detecting, and responding to cyber incidents to critical infrastructure sectors. The National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) identifies, protects, and ensures the resiliency of the nation's 16 critical infrastructure (CIKR) sectors within a single national program. The NIPP defines a process that includes steps to identify, assess and prioritize risks, implement protective measures and assess their effectiveness. The NIPP has an extensive network for coordination among all levels of government and the private sector.
