1. John has a diagnosable illness that requires a certain narcotic drug for its control. Bill, a friend of John's, is a narcotics addict and relies on the same drug that John needs for his illness. Bill tells John that he will pay him twice the cost of the drug if John will get some of it. John agrees and visits his doctor; after John's diagnosis, the doctor gives John an prescription for the narcotic. John takes the prescription to the drugstore and has it filled. He then sells the drug to Bill at the agreed-on price. For what crime or crimes are John and Bill liable? Explain your thoughts.

2. Police enter a bar. Two patrons get up and run out. The police discover a package of heroin taped under the table where the two were seated. Is this sufficient to justify their arrest for possession? Does it make any difference that this is a public place? Explain your thoughts.
