The Baroque style was born in the 16th-17th centuries in Rome, Venice and spread to most of Europe. It was the dominant style in European art, the center of which was Italy. Despite the fact that in the 16-18th centuries, many artists continued to keep the tradition of the Renaissance in the center of attention, nevertheless the art was different in many ways. With its form and content more complicated and controversial, with inexplicable illusionary and irrational approaches, focusing on the internal content of characters. The baroque art is characterized by the inner world of perception and reflection, sensual and mental tension. It is a dynamic style, combining antique characters with a Christian. Being closely related to the monarchy, the aristocracy and the church, the Baroque art was call to glorify their power. One of the forerunners of Baroque painting was Italian genius artist Caravaggio. He brought completely new word and a new quality to the art. His paintings made an indelible impression on the viewer. The Entombment of Cristis one of the most prominent works of the artist. On a dark background, we see a few characters coming closer to Christ's invisible body. The faces of all the characters are influential, and Maryam, the most tragic, has been bruised by her son's dead body, with a desperate hand movement. Caravaggio was the first to use complex paintings in his paintings. This was one of his innovations.
After Baroque style emerged and developed the Rococo style. It was established in France. The emergence of Rococo was due to changes in philosophy, taste, palace life. The ideological basis of style is eternal youth and beauty, escape from reality. New color tones, mild pink and blue are dominant. It first of all influenced the character of the decoration, which already had whimsical and complicated look. During the development of Rococo the Baroque forms have lost their monumentality. The decorations of the buildings are characterized by crochet patterns, roughly designed surface area. The hallmarks of the rooms were highlighted with elegant frames, as well as numerous mirrors. In the themes are dominated pastoralism, cheerfulness, where the characters do not care about their problems, but in the background of beautiful landscape they enjoy the pleasures of love. One of the typical lines of time was the idea of naked bodies.
One of the Rococo style prominent representatives is Jean-Honore Fragonard. His The Swing is part of the Rococo era masterpieces.
