The search for evidence is important to bringing out justice. To properly convict a defendant, they must be proven to be guilty. However, there are unjust ways to come across evidence. For instance, the fourth amendment prohibits and lists unjust types of searches and seizures. The fear is that government will abuse authority in its effort to convict someone who may have committed a crime. Invasion of privacy is an abuse of authority, and is unjust, even if the purpose is searching for evidence.  According to the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, the constitution forbids certain types of searches without warrants. Whole cases can be thrown out because of ill found evidence. However, an exception in most states would be evidence that police would inevitably find anyway. If there weren't rules regarding the collection of evidence, the government could abuse its authority and take advantage of defenseless citizens, guilty or not, which would be a clear abuse. Ezekiel 22 cites the wrongness of authority when it is unjust and abusive. Christians should support a government that limits itself and doesn't abuse authority.
