what rights would you give up. If not, why?
Some people argue that Americans should be willing, in times of significant threat to the homeland and national security, to give up some of their rights in order to make it easier for the government to detect and defeat the threat. For instance, the USA Patriot Act makes it easier for the government to collect information on potential terrorist threats. That means that it is easier for the government to get information about you, too. Do you think that Americans should be willing to give up some of their individual rights for the collective safety and security of the nation? If so, what rights would you give up. If not, why?
